Editing a toolkit for the Coalition for Inclusion and Anti-Oppressive Practice

The Coalition for Inclusion and Anti-Oppressive Practice is made up of organisations and regulatory bodies that want to improve diversity within the counselling, psychotherapy and psychological therapy professions.

In 2024, I supported the Coalition to produce Race is complicated: A toolkit for psychological therapies training.

Authored by two psychotherapists, Danielle Osajivbe-Williams and Marcelline Menyié, the toolkit aims to help psychotherapy training institutions, programme leaders and trainers embed anti-racism and inclusivity in their programmes.

I worked with the authors to restructure and edit their initial draft, cutting the word count by half to make it easier to read and digest, and to make it flow better. The result was a powerful, streamlined toolkit that has received excellent feedback from users.

“I just wanted to tell you how incredibly happy Marcelline and Danielle are to be working with you. They are absolutely delighted with and amazed at how you are so sensitively crafting their words and honouring their voices. You have helped them to understand what a toolkit looks like.”
